Notice of Copyright
© 2017–2026 Eric O. Ledermann. All rights reserved.
All photographs, written works, text, graphics, and other original material on this website, and in any work published under the name Eric O. Ledermann Photography, are protected by United States copyright law and by international copyright treaties. Copyright in each work belongs to Eric O. Ledermann from the moment of its creation, whether or not the work carries a visible notice or watermark.
Photographic Work
This includes portraits, professional headshots, business branding imagery, event photography, and fine art photography, whether the images appear on this website, in client galleries, on social media, in print, or anywhere else.
Photographs may not be copied, downloaded, screenshotted, reproduced, altered, cropped, retouched, filtered, distributed, displayed, or published without my prior written permission. This applies to personal use, commercial use, and nonprofit use alike. Removing or covering a watermark, signature, or copyright notice is a violation of this policy and of federal law.
Images Made for Clients
Commissioning a photograph does not transfer copyright. I retain copyright in every image I create, and my clients receive a license to use their images as described below and in their signed agreement.
Print and personal use (all clients). Every client may print their images, display them in their home or office, and share them with family and friends, including on personal social media with credit to Eric O. Ledermann.
Marketing use (business clients). Clients who commission professional headshots or business branding imagery also receive a license to use those images to promote their own business. This includes their website, professional social media profiles, email signatures, newsletters, press kits, and printed materials such as brochures and business cards, and it extends to editorial or press coverage of the client or the client's business.
Commercial paid advertising is not included. Neither license covers placing my copyrighted images in paid media. That includes paid or boosted social media ads, search and display advertising, billboards, broadcast or streaming ads, purchased print advertising, sponsored placements, product packaging, and any advertising campaign run by a third party, such as an employer or a brand partner. Using my images in any of these ways requires a separate written advertising license, and the fee depends on where the images will run, for how long, and how widely. Please contact me before the campaign begins, not after.
Other limits. Neither license permits resale, sublicensing, or transfer of the images to another party, and neither permits entering the images in contests. Clients may not have the images materially altered by third parties, run through filters or editing apps that change the work, or processed by AI tools. If you would like to use your images in a way these licenses do not cover, I am glad to discuss an expanded license.
Sharing on Social Media
Clients and subjects are welcome to share their images online. Please credit Eric O. Ledermann Photography and tag my account when you post, and keep the image unaltered and uncropped in a way that removes my credit. Please do not post images that I have not delivered to you, such as proofs or unedited files.
Written Work
This includes blog posts, articles, essays, newsletters, and website copy that I write, along with any articles I write for magazines and other publications.
Original writing on this website is my copyright and may not be reproduced, republished, translated, or adapted without my written permission. You are welcome to quote a brief passage with clear attribution and a link to the original source, provided the quotation does not substitute for reading the full piece.
When an article of mine appears in another publication, the photographs that accompany it remain my copyright and are reproduced only under the license I have granted to that publication. Republishing an article, or any image that appears with it, requires permission from me, and in some cases from the publisher as well, depending on the terms under which the piece ran.
Artificial Intelligence and Automated Use
No photograph, text, or other work on this website may be used to train, fine-tune, test, or improve any machine learning or artificial intelligence model. No one may scrape, mine, or collect this content by automated means for that purpose. The same restriction applies to generating images or text that imitate my work or that reproduce my identifiable style using my work as source material. I do not grant a license for any of these uses.
Requesting Permission
I am happy to hear from you if you would like to license an image, republish an article, or use my work in a project, including in paid advertising. Please send the following to eric@ericoledermann.com:
Your name and organization
The specific work you want to use (a link or file name is ideal)
How and where you plan to use it, and for how long
Whether the use is commercial, nonprofit, or paid advertising, and for advertising, the media and geographic reach
I typically respond to licensing requests within 5 business days. Permission is valid only when it is given in writing and signed by me.
Reporting Unauthorized Use
If you believe one of my works is being used without permission, please use my contact form and include a link to the infringing use. I take infringement seriously and may pursue the remedies available under law, including takedown requests under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and civil action.
If you are a platform or hosting provider submitting a notice, please use my contact form.
Governing Law
This policy is governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Arizona. Any dispute arising from the use of my work will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona.
